Plantation ....

I just saw something... that would have had me in another mindset if I didnt currently live in South Carolina.

The word Plantation... it derives so many connotations.
Here in South Carolina some of the most gorgeous venues have been crafted from the "plantations" of old... They still bear the names.. the stigma Im sure is there.

Yet, the communities have well made use of these expansive pieces of land.
There are gardens, habitats, learning centers, concert, wedding, family reunions, etc., venues for whatever your heart desires.

There will always be controversy, but sometimes you have to go to the "root" and its just at this place where one may achieve some healing.

It's not the easiest thing to do to go to one's first plantation; or the next and the next... there are hundreds of them various sizes all over America.

If you take the time to honor the spirits of those who were installed in this locations then you might actually look at these "current venues" in a different manner.
Use this occasions to "reach out to", "touch", "be in tune" with our original African Ancestors...

If the approach were correct, Im sure many would take to the time to "get to know where their roots lie."

It's not easy, but it is a learning experience.

There is even The Slave Dwelling Project - "Working to bring awareness and preserve the dwellings where African American ancestors lived while enslaved"

Use your anger in a constructive manner... LEARN LEARN LEARN!!!!
