In February 2015, the artists of *BAMN'N will present the "ISMS" exhibit at the Avery Research Center in Charleston, SC.
With this show we plan to make provocative visual statements on the oppressive and alienating forces that negative "isms wreak on society.
These "isms" are universal in their negative impact on people and neither time nor location buffer their insidious destruction.
Some of these "isms" are: Racism, Sexism, Ageism, Militarism, Terrorism, Classism, Consumerism, Elitism, Anti-Intellectualism, Brutism, Ethnocentrism, Egoism, Parochialism, Separatism, Anti-Semitism, etcetera.
Many of us bear the metaphysical scare of our personal confrontations with these "isms."
While the mental and emotional scarring can be much more concrete. As artists, however, we have the tools, passion and spirit to visually convey our insights, perspectives on these ills and transform the mundane into powerful, inspiring works of art that will provoke a "hallelujah" from the "saved" and wake-up the complacent.
In the face of current events, both at home and globally, we artist cannot bow down to fear, ignorance, hate and envy - the backbone of negative "isms."
We stand with all who believe in Freedom, Justice Equality and Human/Civil Rights for all.

#EndHomelessness

It's damn shame when you realize that you just may being set up for the ookie doke as opposed to making strides towards living independently.

Though the City of Charleston opened up it Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) program; they also closed 4 major apartment buildings.

There is no city that can survive with just the rich living in it.

For individuals such as myself who will require a one bedroom, these it seems are hard to find. Even more so, since one doesn't know the economic figures until they have gone through the process; you can't even keep your eyes open because you have no idea when the letter will come for the interview.

From what I understand, there are quite a few who have turned down their Housing Choice vouchers because there has simply been no place to rent; for them where they are is better.

This doesnt work for me.. Im in a room. I know how to make do. I need to be able to LIVE in a space that is "MINE", with some sense of privacy and space; you know just a little something like "regular" people do.

To have a bathtub that I could trust to lay down in, knowing that I can have someone to assist me to get the hell out of. Can't do that here.

Im putting it out there now... when my time comes.. Im going to need assistance in finding a place to live ON the peninsula. I dont drive so the outskirts are not an option.

I have to look past the first year of being in the program so that I will be able to use the same voucher and apply it to a mortgage.

The basics in my life are being dealt with. Ive learned to LIVE as minimally as possible in the face of survival.

I have somethings that need to be implemented but trust me, without out my own space it aint happening.

I cant bring the drums into play and dancers flow in this one room.
What's good for the goose doesnt seem to apply to the other geese in this building so it's best that I DO ME and have my own space to live.

See the one thing about prayers, the answers dont have to be immediate but they do have to be put into the atmosphere. #EndHomelessness

This Merry Go 'Round

I can accept the fact that Im quite a multi facted woman.
soon to be 50
Im sure there are some experiences that I havent had
and yet some that I have.
I do know that somewhere in everyone is a "freak"
and my poor baby has been dormant
Its trifling that "some" men rush to respond to body parts but don't want to string a damn sentence together
Yet the one fills the sapiosexual need is emotionally unavailable
This merry go round is annoying and gut wrenching
Many are so manipulated and damaged in the woes of karmic debt
The extensive healing they have to experience doesnt leave space for love
I speak from necessity because I can't be the only woman with common sense who does not have a significant other yet desires a partner for more than dick.
I know it's a matter of time, yet I can't let cobwebs take up space in my head.
Go deeper, vibrate higher, be free .. Be YOU 1 heart emoticon

The Universe deserves a THANK YOU

Sometimes you receive your blessing and in the process you may have to make some adjustments in your life.
Sometimes we dont take the time to ENJOY the blessing.
We go straight to talking about what we dont have and what didnt go right
Not even looking at "the bird in the hand"
Recognize when you are being blessed
Take the time to relish in the moment and rejoice that you have been blessed
Be Grateful for what has been bestowed up you and yours
Start with Breath, Basic Health, the ability to see, hear, touch, feed ourselves, walk, bathe ourselves ..
Sometimes the basics tenets of life one may take for granted
See the future Yes, but acknowledge the NOW that is happening in your life
Today's Blessings warrant merit, just dont wallow in it too much... LOL
We've still yet have work to do!!!
The Universe deserves a THANK YOU grin emoticon

New Voice - #OGSpeaks

Y'all know sometimes my brain gets triggered and I have a ‪#‎BrainPhart‬
Children need, clothes, food and shelter, now this may involve, water, electricity, in some cases transportation and day care costs including baby sitting fees... that being said.. none of these costs have yet to deal with lunch, after dinner and weekends plus activities.. albeit clubs, teams and possible fees for internet and books of course.
Oh Yeah... dont get me started on HOLIDAYS!!!! Dem chirrun ALWAYS gonna need something EXTRA .. and the BABYSITTING FEE GOES UP!!!!
Parents on both sides contribute to the well being of a child.. if at all possible.. for those who do not reside.. one is always charged with at least keep the level of living and lifestyle similarly maintained in both homes so the child "doesn't feel some type of way".
It aint easy and praise G-d she'll be 25 next week.. through in joint custody across state lines... so yes transportation.. international travel was in the mix from she was months old, disability, child support yes from me and SS .. my jack staying on all the time and staying in a nearby location until I know she was who she was going to be..
You can't begin to put a dollar on raising a child .. just know that whatever the court is requesting aint enough.. remember.. Children use, gas, light and water too..
At the end of the day, put the time in.. put the dollars in.. bring a full heart and when you can full hands PLUS that check!!!
Children grow up and they dont always remember things the way adults do.. you have to make sure you have some pleasant memories in your head and a sweet taste in your mouth! ‪#‎OGSpeaks‬
