The scar on my left cheek was live and raw when she performed at Town Hall in NYC.. I was walking by.. I was in a healing space.. it was moments before my 45th birthday... I knew I was headed somewhere.. it tooks nearly 3 more months to get to Charleston SC...
You have understand... I love Michael Jackson.. I met and had 20 mins of just he and I in conversation... She is the female counterpart....
Ms. Kidjo... she's in my Think Tank of Women.. those Sistas whose works hit your soul... Dr. Maya Angelou, Ms. Oprah, Sista V... You know them "Brewin' Sistas".. the ones who conjure up revolution in your spirit!!!!....

The first offer of ticket came in the inbox of Fb... the second offer came at the doors to theTD Arena!!! I met others who has been blessed in the same manner.
I'd like to think that I came up thru the ranks in Charleston. I spent my first four months here in Crisis Ministries Homeless Shelter. 1 week shy of 3 years ago I entered those doors. Last night, I was on stage with Angélique Kidjo!!!
She was in Charleston for THE VERY FIRST TIME performing as part of Piccolo Spoleto Festival / Spoleto Festival USA. Ive got a heck of a perspective....
I felt the energy of the 3 Sistas from Atlanta when the walked into the area... had to ask them where they were from... my Egun where ready...... ... The two young ladies appear on stage as well and you know I had to make sure they were getting their dance groove on....
This wasn't any different from WoSe of Charleston or Deninufay African Dance & Drum Production moments.... I was in a blur for a hot minute... then.. it was SHOWTIME!!!!
