It's an extremely humbling existence.

Good Morning....

I was looking at comments again... this one struck a nerve (pun intended)

"The ALS challenge is intended to show the rest of us what an ALS sufferer feels thru the extreme shock of the ice cold water on the nerves."

It has dawned on me that folks who have attempted the challenge have experienced a moment in my daily life.

This is just why everything aint for everybody... Shiiiiiiid I go through this when I walk into air conditioning .... when the atmosphere switches quickly it can be quite intense....

I know I'd go into shock!!!

Be appreciative of the body and motor skills that you have...

It's one of the things folks take for granted...

Im a little ticked. . Yet I did say this would happen.  Bear with me.
Simple things are very complex right now.

One's physiology is constantly changing.

If there were some sections injured, other parts try to compensate for the lack.

It gets tricky when you wear things out.

Imagine ...

Eating with fork, spoon or hand.. just that short spaced action

Inputting this post on smartphone

Combing one's hair

Writing one's name

Brushing one's teeth

Forget the obvious.. lol

All with the feeling of something stabbing you from back to front pissing off back, spine, arm and hand.

Yet there has to be a freakin' smile somewhere because you can feel this &@$#$@@& .. pardon me.  I never ever pretend to be the greatest patient.

Yes, its been a 25 yr progressive run of constantly adapting and finding new ways to function even with the manipulation of every day menial tasks.

I bought myself some time moving to Charleston .. the last four years have been great but those nerves,  ligaments and muscles I guess must be tired now. They are rebelling.

No.. Im not supposed to touch the damn computers. Yet they're my link to the outside world on days like today.

Most dont know what it's like not to be able to compete because your body says Phuq You.

It's an extremely humbling existence.
There aren't too many who can hang with the complexities of Me.

Lately my man down days are coming with a bit too much frequency.

Let's get past these weeks of changing seasons.

Ive got to order some Cod Liver Oil; and see what my Dr and I come up with tomorrow for pain management.

This current knife in my back ain't responding to much. A month is too damn long to be suffering. This bugger has caused tears and dropped me to my knees.

I claim comfort .. ease of mind during the healing process and minimal pain during daily tasks. I just want to live my life... with minimal pain. 1♥

Pray for me.

Ok.. Yesterday was PHENOMENAL..... #GuineaExchangeinCharleston

Julie Dauberman Staveley-O'Carroll hosted One World Dance & Drum on a whirlwind weekend in Charleston....

Sarah Lee Parker Mansare guest instructed at WoSe of Charleston's African Dance & Drum's weekly 9 am class at Dancefx Charleston!!!

Charleston audiences had time to sit and appreciate the Master Flute playing of Mamady Mansare!!!!

Guinea's Mamady Mansaré - Artist for Les Ballets Africains dates his family all the way back of 1235... His stories and spirit were gifts to our lives.!!!!

In the evening the experience was enhanced with food, festival and finery at Circular Congregational Church, Charleston; where he would play this morning before departure...

The aroma of Guinea food filled the air as the drums beat. The finery and craftsmanship of the articles created by Guinea Exchange were on sale yet providing the flavor against white sunlit walls...

A great day!!!! So you know there are a serious amount of pics and videos..

The roll out begins shortly being published on several different pages... they all have different audience bases..

Compressed pics on Facebook, HD pics on GoogleTumblr
Videos - YouTube and Vimeo

and most definitely featured on my little corner of the web

Pray for me.

I aint mean to cut their balls off

#BrainPharts I must have spit this to someone and had someone else read it..

I was speaking of my initiation but a lot of things are on my mind right now...
He said Spill It.....
You wanted to know what I went through
when I went though what I went though
Sighsssss
which time
The lesson comes down to how much abuse can I withstand.
Truth be told not a lot.
See silence can have the same impact as a razor to the face, punch in the eye, kick to the gut, burn on the chest.
Silence can be as maddening as the screams no one hears during a rape,
trapped in the throat because one desires to live.
but this collective phrase is not even the event
it shows the resiliency to not back down
what we have to look at it just why
one can be in such situations
Im not flip at the mouth
Im rather quiet
unless in public situations where I have to pump a crowd
but for some reason
my nature may threaten others
and when they cannot control me
there is an issue
I just want to be me
I was damn old when I was young
I aint mean to cut their balls off
but damn it seemed that mine were bigger than their's
See.. this is the exact same reason 30 years worth of journals slipped out my hands... folks aint ready....
I recall too much

Hmmmmm

TODAY'S HOT TIP!!!!!!!! LEARN TO WRITE CODE!!!!!! #BlackGirlsCode #GirlsWhoCode

TODAY'S HOT TIP!!!!!!!! LEARN TO WRITE CODE!!!!!!

Especially the Young Ladies... check out Girls Who Code & BlackGirlsCode
Learn the language of the system.

Look at the work of Kimberly Bryant Founder Blackgirlscode and her reasons for starting these programs!!!!

Get to the root of the issue... Dont just fall for the pretty surface!!!

It can boogle the mind just how many files can be in a system32 directory DAAANG!!!!

Now flip that perspective into your daily life...

How many file do you access to make it through your day?

We are a repository of files... information and action files..
we are living .exe, .bat and .coms... LOL

#ThinkingWhileScreenScrolling #PatienceIsPartOfTheProcess

I remember when teaching some folks how to build a computer they just want to get to use it...

I teach you how to put it together first.... yes the physical pieces in the CPU ..
then install the software ... this s the part that some folks just dont like..

they have to read.. they have to pay attention to detail
they have to let the process do what it does
there arent too many short cuts once the program is written
if all goes well
it has one purpose
to achieve the goal that you told it to do
you do have some control
if you know what you are doing
knowing the root
source of something
eliminates the fear when moving forward
being privy to the foundation
assist is getting past all the fluff

That's me with DOS and Windows...
my old school knowledge allows me to see what's going on without the GUI
Graphical User Interface

Trust me... if my hands could do it... I'd learn to write code!!!

Sound a lot like LIFE right????

Just want someone to explore it with.

Someone tried to tell me that I'd probably be bored in a relationship. ..
Shiiiiiiid I think NOT!!!
Im dying for a playmate!!
Most folks don't get it.. partners are complementary to one's life.
They are not meant to be your all in all, lifeline and entertainment.
We are meant to add to and fill gaps in an otherwise "working" life.
One cannot seek for everything in the world to drop away just because you now have a significant other..
One is still supposed to maintain life as before, now with some extras.
I don't see a man as a "Calgon take me away" situation.
I already live in Paradise. . Just want someone to explore it with.

Yes, the little things will have you moving mountains

No matter what type of pain your are experiencing in your life..
there is always a point of tolerance.
Where you go from it being the center of attention to it just being there.
Your threshold has risen. You can bear the pain.
Im not sure if that's always a good thing, but for one's sanity it can be a calming thing.
Acceptance of that which you cannot change at the moment...
Keep on keepin' on, just holding straight, hanging in there, I just here.. all these are terms used by folks who are going through something...
my personal favorites... you want what you want to hear, or you want the truth...
We all bear pain in many different ways.
Just as there are many different pains.
Emotional,. Mental, Spiritual Financial and Physical pain all manifest themselves in various actions in our day to day lives.
For some, it's just enough to take in air and see if they can recycle is back out "breathe to air"
Now the thing is.. we have to make sure that we are not wallowing in pain ... i.e. suffering..
You stay in that zone too long then you get lost.
There are always little daily changes that makes suffering conquerable.
Find moments of happiness..
things that make your smile ease across your face
Yes, the little things will have you moving mountains

Channel Your Energy

There are so many levels of anger that we have to channel our expression of it when coupled with sadness and outrage.

Some of us have been weeping for a long time.

Our hearts wrench for every mother whose gift from the Heavens, her child has been ripped from her heart and returned to the earth before her.

Our screams so loud they appear silent as the fathers flail in an invisible fisticuffs as he curses man and G-d because his seed will grow no longer.

Our deep bending sobs join that of brothers,  sisters,  cousins,  aunts, uncles.

Our prayers go with those of the even younger today grand parents and great grand parents.

Our shouts of desperate WHY???s with the friends, acquaintances and newly outraged every day folk as they take to the streets in protest and civil disobedience.
We all are not able.

There are some who will protest the ravaging of human beings in our communities and internationally in silent action, unseen and unheard of by the bright lights.

They will continue to teach, uplift, surround with love and prepare for the future those who will do battle.

We have to grasp that there are levels to justice and patience is indeed one of it's mightiest tool.

We must use the time to make a difference with each one within earful, arm's reach, newsfeed sight and retweet.

There will always be similarities in revolution.

It's the outrage that gets people hyped and into the streets in civil unrest.

It's the heart that will make change and rebuild the communities.

When you've awakened and what was once there, is now gone..

What do you do?

Times have changed.

Many of us are business owners and money changers.

Unless you read the fine print, we don't know who owns what.

As our communities, here and at large experience a deep generational depression we hear little of the healing that needs to occur.

This requires more than a harmonic convergence of prayer and praise.

This revolution begins in each heart, each home, each block, each street,  each community, church, synagogue, temple, mosque, each and every level of educational institution and correctional facility.

We have to make a choice as to what type of Change Agent we will be.

How will I make a difference without causing further harm to another human to bring about PEACE in our homes, communities,  towns, cities, states and countries?

Where does one begin?

Channel one's frustration today that it serves purpose tomorrow!!

There are many in the revolution .. it takes more than arms to overcome oppression.

Mental,  Emotional, Physical & Spiritual preparation are needed.

You prepare for war way before the thought of conflict. You don't wait until the battle begins.

Continue to recruit and nurture minds and hearts to challenge themselves to pursue a life of service to mankind.

Combined Forces. . Physical.. Mental.. Emotional. . Spiritual .....encourage ... bolster .. prepare.

It's going to take awhile to go from genocide and communal suicide to dialogue. . The pain continues to go deeper. Unfortunately more babies will die. #AllShootingMustStop

Have you spoken with an Elder?

There is nothing new under the Sun.

Ask them how they and their families, communities, towns, cities, countries made it through the civil unrest of their generation.

Come on.. we need answers.. its more than a few arrests and riots.

This "boil" is systematic and BEFORE it's poisonous pus erupts further we need to know how to get to the core and promote HEALING now!!!

This UNIVERSAL pain and suffering has to ease... history dictates it will not stop so we must continue to work for PEACE ON EARTH. 1♥

#ChefLife - African American Culinary Educators .... there needs to be more

Are you about that #ChefLife???? Will you be taking it to another level?

I see many in Culinary School yet do you have plans for making more of a difference in your chosen field, by attaining more education?

Or is the kitchen, management, service... just enough???

There are many folks with culinary school certification and college degrees... make that magic happen....

Some of you are being called HIGHER....

I remembered articles after I first arrived in Charleston 4 years ago about this Chef... as Charleston life progressed.. our paths have crossed at many occasions. Im still working on the Quest Culinary videos Chef!!! LOL

In recent discussion with Kevin Mitchell - Chef Instructor of The Culinary Institute of Charleston .. Culinary Educator at Trident Technical College.

the topic of there not being many "African American culinary educators" period....

"We need to encourage students to further their education.  You need a minimum of a Bachelor to teach and eventually a Masters"

As with any field we must be encouraged to pursue avenues of higher education which allows diversity in curriculum and student recruitment.

There are many levels to #ChefLife... reality TV has provided a false perspective. We see y'all sweatin' :-D

Im blessed to see many here on FB who are pursuing their culinary paths... yet I ask... how high up the educational food ladder" are you ready to ascend?

Keep this in mind ... "Our life span is short you can't kick it in a kitchen forever.  Education is the natural progression"

What say you MrNate Wilson, Patorah Blackman, Angeline Temple, Brandy Phatman's Delon ??

Give Thanks to these two gentlemen... Benjamin Dennis, Ira Hill they spoil me here in Charleston. through them I see ALL LEVELS of #ChefLife. 1 <3
