Some history .....

"There is no suitable memorial or plaque or wreath or wall or park or skyscraper lobby. There is no 300-foot tower. There's no small bench by the road."

The benches were inspired by a comment Morrison made in a 1989 interview about a lack of monuments where people could go and contemplate slavery.

The first bench was placed on Sullivans Island near Charleston in 2008. Others are in Ohio, Paris and Washington, D.C.

South Carolina has many negative ties to the beginning and perpetuation of slavery, but Mitchelville provides insight into its role at the end of slavery.

Hopped on the @KnutsfordExpress from Montego Bay to Kingston .. just under $25 it was about 3 hrs... I dont remember. LOL Kevin Scott came to receive me at the New Kingston location... this was Champs weekend..

Kingston was packed, traffic was hellish. We stopped by my old school St. Theresa Prep, then on to the gentlemen that cook some serious food on Camp Road. Went to the Fruits Man right out side of Harbour View Shopping Center... a daily stop for fresh jelly coconut.

We took in a little Kingston night life at PULSE... where I finally met Jamaican Cultural Ambassador LaTonya Style of Dance JA Academy by chance!!! She's been to 35 countries now including Senegal .. spreading the love of DanceHall!! Then came CHAMPS LYME.... OMG the food!!!
